Dash: Seeing Life Through the Lens of Eternityنموونە
Eternal Impact
Throughout history, many people have lived wholeheartedly for Jesus and are now part of the ‘great cloud of witnesses’ Hebrews 12:1-2 speaks about. Some of them we will never know this side of eternity.
If we look back at Hebrews 11, we find a whole chapter devoted to heroes of the faith. Many went through tough times, and others lost their lives due to their faith. And this is no different from the times in which we live. In certain nations today, Christ-followers are under immense persecution. The cost of following Jesus is often not spoken about as often as it should. Maybe you have never been told that giving your life to Christ and living for Him would be hard sometimes. Just know that it will always be worth it!
In the parable of the sower in Matthew 13, the good soil bears fruit in abundance. A healthy, productive plant is such a brilliant picture of what our spiritual lives can look like. Fruitfulness in God’s Kingdom doesn’t happen accidentally but takes faithfulness and perseverance. The exciting thing about fruit is that it contains seed that has the potential to go on and produce more fruit in years to come. This is a wonderful picture of what happens when we share the good news of Jesus Christ with others, and they receive the Lord into their hearts.
The words of an old hymn I love provide the solution to finding contentment, significance, and fruitfulness. It says, ‘Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face. And the things of the Earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace." As we fix our eyes on Jesus, distractions will dim, and our hearts will be filled with the joy and purpose that only God can bring.
Let’s make our DASH count for all eternity.
Point to Ponder: How can you practically grow in Kingdom fruitfulness this week?
Lord Jesus, please help us answer your call to live wholeheartedly and make disciples daily. Thank you for the many heroes of faith who have set such a wonderful example for me to follow. I pray that my 'dash will count for all eternity. Amen
