Joshua had some pretty big shoes to fill. Can you imagine having to take over for Moses? Or having to lead a multitude of people after they had escaped Pharoah’s army in Egypt and wandered in the wilderness for forty years? Or having to guide these people who were now without a home and were trying to find a place to restart their lives? This was no easy task; honestly, these weren’t easy people either. You can’t fault Joshua for being a little nervous! Fortunately, he was lucky enough to be given one of the best pep talks in the Bible! God Himself spoke to Joshua to tell him to be strong and courageous. God reminded him that He was with him and would continue to be with him. Notice God didn’t tell Joshua that everything was going to be easy. Instead, He reminded Joshua of what He had already done for His people and what He promised to continue to do. Isn’t it great to know that we serve a God who doesn’t give us a one-time deal? He is a God who continually offers to rescue us when we call on Him and a God who wants us to put our complete faith and trust in Him, just as many others have done in the past. Today, spend some time praying. Thank God for the stories of faith we have read and remember. Thank Him for all the times He has rescued His people in the past and the knowledge that He will continue to do so for you in the future.

About this Plan
No matter the destination you’re trying to reach, the journey to get there comes with twists and turns instead of a straight path. We often have to reroute. In this devotional we’ll dive into what it looks like to reroute and find a new map along the journey. We’ll see many examples of God working to fulfill the plans He created for us.
