Rerouting

DAY 17 OF 25

Have you ever heard of a “Hail Mary” pass in football? It’s a desperate pass with only a small chance of success. It’s almost as if this kind of pass is a last-ditch effort of faith. The person throwing this sort of pass has nowhere else to turn, and no other decision can be made. So, they put everything they have into one last effort—that final pass. That’s where the centurion in the book of Matthew found himself. His favorite servant was ill, and even though Jesus was not the sort of man a soldier would usually turn to, the centurion went to Him in his hour of desperation. Instead of turning him away, Jesus chose to focus on the amazing faith the centurion had that Jesus could heal his servant and faith that Jesus would heal his servant. This is the kind of story that we can hold on to in our hours of need. When we think that we’ve gotten ourselves into too tough of a spot and find ourselves in situations that we don’t think we could ever get out of, we can think of these stories of faith and take heart. God has rescued people with faith before and He will do so again. What situation in your life do you need to give over to Christ? What stories can you call on to remind yourself of the faithfulness of God?

About this Plan

Rerouting

No matter the destination you’re trying to reach, the journey to get there comes with twists and turns instead of a straight path. We often have to reroute. In this devotional we’ll dive into what it looks like to reroute and find a new map along the journey. We’ll see many examples of God working to fulfill the plans He created for us.
