My Part. God’s Part. - Proverbs 21
My part and God’s part - we live most of our lives in the balance of this simple little equation that I often talk about. Honestly, it’s easy to lean too far one way or the other. To some people, it’s all about what I can do – self-discipline and willpower. Pick yourself up. Pull yourself together. To other people, it’s all about what the devil has done to them; therefore, most of the setbacks in life will require a miracle deliverance from God. In college, I often asked God for a miracle when walking into an exam, and I did not study enough. Most of the time, I got the grade I deserved. The Bible says we will reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). It always worked better when I prepared diligently and prayed that God would help me remember all that I studied!
This powerful little passage in Proverbs 21 shows us there is a specific part we play – we need to get the horse ready! But, ultimately, the victory will rest with God.
“Father, thank you for the strength to do my part in bringing victory into my life. Please breathe on all my efforts and help me win in life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
