Bloom Where You’re Planted - Proverbs 12
Today’s verse is one of my life verses. It is rich in meaning for you and me because I wholeheartedly believe we all have been given our own “land” to work and manage. Our “land” includes our relationships, job, finances, opportunities, potential, and on and on. This verse is a great promise – if we manage well what we have been given, God will abundantly provide for us.
Unfortunately, sometimes we focus on what we don’t have or on someone else’s “land,” and we get distracted. It is too easy to get a “grass is greener” syndrome as we look at others instead of keeping our head down and “working” our land, staying focused on managing what we have been given.
One of the most important ingredients to blooming where you are planted is contentment, which means to be happy where you are, on the way to where you are going. Contentment is not a gift God gives to certain people. Instead, it is a choice you make. Contentment isn’t passive. You’re not sitting around hoping for better days. Contentment is active. I’m happy with what God is doing in my life, and I’m believing for even more. Come on, bloom where you are planted. Work your land! Don’t chase fantasies or fall into foolish distractions.
“Father, thank you for the ‘land’ you have given me. I will honor you by working and taking care of it! In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
