Animal documentaries may or may not be your thing, but even if you choose a few at random, you'll probably find they all have some things in common. Whether it's penguins, sloths, or octopuses, the documentary is probably going to show you how that animal takes care of its young when it's in danger. From the difficult journeys, to treacherous climbs, to hungry predators, you'll usually see at least one example of a parent caring for its young in the midst of that danger. The parent is always nearby, watching, listening, and ready to soothe or protect their baby, whether the child knows it or not.
Even if you're not interested in penguins, you should try a documentary like this sometime, because watching these creatures care for their vulnerable young is a lot like how God cares for us. Even when we're not aware of it, God is always present, always knowledgeable about what's happening, and always attentive to our needs. When we are hurt or in danger, God knows and is ready to give us comfort and help, if we just ask.
Has God ever cared for you like this? What would it look like for you to care for someone else like this?

When our friends need help, there are no easy answers, but in this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll see what Scripture invites us to do when others are grieving, lonely, in need, or feeling hopeless.
