There are a lot of ways to say goodbye — sometimes with words, sometimes with a hug, and sometimes with a parting gift. Whether it's a framed photo of your friend on the last day of school, a thank you note after a long visit with family, or a plate of food from grandma on your way out the door, these little goodbye gifts give us something to remember each other by.
If you're familiar with the story of Jesus, you know there were a few moments when Jesus said goodbye to the people he loved. One of those times was on his way back to God when his time on earth had come to an end. But when Jesus left, he left us with a parting gift: the Holy Spirit! See, Jesus understood life could get lonely and hard sometimes. That's why he sent the Holy Spirit to always be with us. Even when it's hard to believe or feel like God is near, we can trust God's Spirit never leaves us alone. Maybe you need that reminder today, or maybe someone else needs you to share that reminder with them.
Had God ever comforted you when you felt alone? Who's someone else who needs that comfort right now?

About this Plan
Friendship might feel easy when life is easy, but it gets more complicated when your friends are hurting or struggling. What should you do? What should you say? What should you not say? When our friends need help, there are no easy answers, but in this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll see what Scripture invites us to do when others are grieving, lonely, in need, or feeling hopeless.
