Coming Back to God
Jeremiah 3:22b
“Come back, and I will forgive you for being unfaithful.” “Yes, we will come to You. You are the Lord our God.”
God constantly invited the Israelites to return to Him and to repent from their sinful actions. Each time they backslid, again and again God called them and promised to give them restoration and a hopeful future.
Backsliding means moving away from Jesus after accepting Him. For example, someone accepted Christ and for some time he was active in church, doing his devotion daily and regularly praying. But over the course of time, he didn’t do those things anymore and he started doing things that God dislikes such as, bullying his classmates, cursing, skipping class, lying to parents, stealing, etc.
Backsliding makes you do things that God dislikes. When this happens to you, remember that God wants you to come back to Him. When He sees you coming back to Him with a repentant heart, He will welcome you with outstretched arms and wrap you with forgiving arms.
Prayer
Dear God, please help me to stay in Your path. May I keep my relationship with You as a priority in my life. Amen.
