Six Truths to Simply Choose

DAY 4 OF 6

Feeling Heard.

Be honest. Have you ever cried into your pillow at night? I’m talking all lights out, door shut tight, no one around, just you and your tear stained pillow in the darkness.

I can feel this moment when it starts to bubble up inside of me, especially if I’ve been crying out to God and He meets me with a “no” or a “not yet.” If you ever hear me say those are my favorite words, I’m lying.

Here’s one of the things I’ve learned about prayer: my prayers need to line up with God’s. When they don’t, of course I can expect to be greeted with a stiff-arm block, sometimes even before I’m finished praying! Yet, when I find myself crying in the darkness and no words are escaping my mouth, I know the Holy Spirit is interceding for me. He is the best One to finish all our sentences when it comes to praying and talking with God. The Father and the Spirit are one; they hear each other loud and clear.

Silence or no’s after prayer can make us feel ignored by God, but we know this to be untrue. We are heard by God, and He will answer us with good news, better news than we can imagine, in a way that draws us closer to Him!

Read Romans 8:26-28 and take note of what sticks out to you in these verses.

Choose Knowing that God hears you, how does this help you choose to pray?

Reflect What keeps you from praying? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you.

Pray  Holy Spirit, I am thankful for the relationship you have with the Father. Thank you for interceding on my behalf when I cannot find the words to speak. May I choose to believe that I am not ignored by God, but that every word I whisper is heard. And may this give me even more confidence to pray.
