Six Truths to Simply Choose

DAY 2 OF 6

Feeling Chosen.

Think back to gym class, when kids would choose who they wanted on their teams. There was always one kid who didn’t want to be chosen last because it pretty much meant he wasn’t good enough or didn’t have the skills to help the team win. I’ll be the first to admit that I probably would have been chosen last many times. That’s why I’m glad my P.E. coaches always made us number off, and either team one or team two was stuck with me.

Jesus was really good at making people feel wanted and chosen. He found the ones who felt forgotten and overlooked and told them they were chosen for a purpose. It didn’t matter what they looked like on the outside or how many teams they had been the captain of or whether they were tax collectors or fisherman. He told them that they were wanted by a God that had specifically chosen them for something greater.

There are going to be times where we are not chosen for things. A date, a job promotion, an adoption. When the lie creeps in that we are not good enough for those things, we must remember that God has chosen us for a specific purpose.

Read  1 Peter 2:9 and take note of what sticks out to you in this verse.

Choose How can you choose to believe you are chosen and wanted by God today?

Reflect How are you experiencing (or not experiencing) being chosen by God right now in your life?

Pray Holy Spirit, help me to remember that I am chosen by God for a specific purpose. With God, I don’t need to fear that I am missing out on anything. Holy Spirit, remind me that I am God’s special possession and nothing can remove me from His hand.
