Make Room

DAY 2 OF 5

Over the last year, masks have become a requirement within our everyday lives.  You can’t go anywhere without one.  Masks can provide this sense of invisibility.  Masked living hides us to an extent, and likewise, provides covering for sin, but masks don’t remove from us taking responsibility, owning our actions, and being mindful of the spirit in which we conduct ourselves.  We may feel that in wearing masks we won’t be seen for who we really are and continue to live our lives with this perspective that once we’re saved, we’re covered and can by-pass the ongoing work of sanctification.  Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t mean we will never need to repent, clean up our attitudes, or address the brokenness within.  We may be covered by the redemptive work of Christ, but God’s work is an ongoing, deep work.  We don’t get to live covered by grace without continual re-alignment to the kingdom of God. We don’t want to get caught up in the ways of the world, but should rather desire to live with our steps being ordered by God.

QUESTIONS

We all have the opportunity to lay down our former ways of living. Can you identify places where you wear a mask or where you have covered your past?

Where have you previously avoided the confronting work of Jesus in your heart or mind?

What attitudes, habits, or brokenness do you need to give God access to within your own life?
