ManifestHER Daily: Becoming Fully Committedنموونە
Two friends of mine were each growing their own garden, and one friend called me to talk about it. Her garden was growing, but there were almost no fruit or vegetables on her plants. Where she did see some fruit or vegetables, they were so small, they would fall off the plant and rot before fully maturing to be picked for consumption. She shared that she had called our second friend whose garden was flourishing, and she had figured out the problem—it was her soil! Apparently, good soil has organic matter, compost, mulch, cover crops, and more. Once she figured this out, her fruit and vegetables were plentiful.
The fruit in our lives represents the practical. This is what people can see as “results” in our lives—the degrees, the job, and the kids’ achievements. The soil represents the spiritual development—it’s what you cannot see—the time you spend in stillness, the prayers you’ve lifted up, the relationship with God you’ve built over time. The spiritual and practical go hand in hand. When you prioritize the spiritual (the soil), the practical (the fruit) will remain and grow.
Why is this important??
· Keeping the spiritual before the practical can save that next decision you have to make
· Keeping the spiritual before the practical can save a relationship
· Keeping the spiritual before the practical can save your perspective
· Keeping the spiritual before the practical can save you from going down a path that glorifies a side other than God’s side
There are so many things we could do daily that sound good—but every good thing isn’t necessarily a God thing. We have to be careful not to overcommit to good things to the point where we under commit to our Creator.
When you acknowledge the spiritual before the practical, and when you have both the spiritual and the practical operating together, you’re best able to maximize your purpose in Him.
