I’ve heard it said by prisoners that “hope is a luxury I can’t afford.” And they say this because when things don’t happen, or when people fail to come through for them, they are left more devastated than when they first decided to hope. However, because of Jesus we have a “reliable hope” that stops at nothing in order to set us free. Not even personal threats to His own life will keep Him from coming through for us. Today’s Bible verses capture Jesus’ heart for you and I. Some people who obviously cared about Jesus, told Jesus that someone wanted to kill him and encouraged him to leave. Instead of running from the situation, Jesus takes a firm stand and doesn’t back down. Why does He do this? Because people needed to be set free and that’s why He came to Earth. The hope for today is simply this: Keep holding on. Jesus is on his way to you.
What freedom are you in need of?

About this Plan
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness again, but will have the light of life.” In this daily Bible reading plan, Illuminate, we study the teachings of Jesus found in the Gospel of Luke chapters 12-17. In these passages of Scripture, Jesus sheds light on the kingdom of God and guides us to live our lives in light of eternity.
