Chosen for Family
Who’s your best friend? Who’s that one person that you always turn to no matter what? The person whose parents are like your own? Who you think of as a brother or a sister? It’s fair to assume that you have a great relationship with that person. After all, if you didn’t, then you wouldn’t be best friends. But in order for your relationship to even exist, one of you had to make the choice to begin talking, to get to know each other, and to become friends.
Here’s the crazy thing: that’s what Jesus did for you. He chose you. He chose to start a relationship, a friendship with you. And then He invited you to be a part of His family. He picked you to be a child of God. In Hebrews 2:11, the author wrote that Jesus considers everyone who believes in Him, who follows Him, who He has picked up, as His brothers and sisters. Jesus is your big brother. And He loves you. And He’s so glad to have you be part of His family. How does having Jesus as your big brother make you feel?
