Chosen
Imagine that you were about to adopt a dog. You go to the animal shelter, you see all of the different dogs they have, and then what do you do? You choose your dog. You pick him up, hold him, and tell him he’s going to become part of your family. That’s what Jesus did for His disciples, and that’s what He did for us. In John 15:16, Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit…” In this one sentence, Jesus gave a great encouragement to His disciples. He said that they did not choose Him, but that He chose them. And that applies to us today as well. Jesus chose us long before we chose Him. But what does that mean?
The phrase “I chose you” can also be translated to “I picked you up.” Out of all the people in the world, He chose you. He picked you up, rescued you, and invited you into His family. So now it’s your turn. How will you respond to God choosing you?
