Love God Greatly: Empowered

DAY 3 OF 40

After Peter and John healed a lame man in the temple, people questioned where their power came from. It had been only a few weeks since Jesus was tried and crucified, and the events of those few days were fresh in everyone’s mind. When the lame man was healed, people no doubt remembered the miraculous ways Jesus had healed many when He was on earth.⁣

When the lame man placed His faith in Jesus, His strength was restored. When the crowd wondered where Peter and John received their strength, they reminded them of the one tried and crucified: Jesus Christ. Peter explained how the work of Jesus, and the work they were continuing to do, fulfilled the prophets of long ago. The Jews in the temple rejected Jesus, but that did not stop His disciples from sharing the truth of who He is. Jesus is the Son of God, the only One who can forgive sins and the only One who can heal. ⁣

Faith in Jesus is what saves. It always has saved and it always will save. May we, like Peter, continue to proclaim the truth no matter the opposition we may face. ⁣

Father God, thank You for sending Your Son to take my place and pay the penalty for my sins. You have always granted Your people salvation by faith alone. Let me be a witness to this truth, reminding others (and myself) that it is through faith, not works, I am saved and redeemed. Amen. ⁣

About this Plan

Love God Greatly: Empowered

Empowered: Yesterday and Today is a deep study of the book of Acts. As we study the early church and the spread of the gospel we hope to find encouragement and strength to continue spreading the message of the gospel in our spheres of influence. God empowered the early church to share the gospel every single day, and He does the same for us, even now.
