CHAT-A-BOX Pt 5. Everyday Life

DAY 5 OF 6

CONVERSATION STARTERS

Q1)  Which do you think is a worse crime: stealing a packet of chips from the supermarket or stealing $10 from another kid’s wallet? Why?

Q2)  What would you do if you saw a crime being committed?

What does the Bible say about crime?

  • God hates crime, but loves justice.

“For I, the Lord, love justice. I hate robbery and wrongdoing.” (Isaiah 61:8a)

  • God wants us to obey the governing authorities because he has given them to us to keep us safe.

For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honour you. The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. (Romans 13:3-4)

  • God is completely fair and just, and he cares for all his creation.

Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. (Psalm 36:6)
