CHAT-A-BOX Pt 5. Everyday Life

DAY 4 OF 6

CONVERSATION STARTERS

Q1) If you could choose only one job to work for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Q2) What is the hardest work you have ever done?

What does the Bible say about work?

  • God works.

But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.” (John 5:17)

  • When God created us he gave us work to do.

The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. (Genesis 2:15)

  • God wants us to work enthusiastically.

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. (Colossians 3:23-24)

  • Although work is important, God shows us that rest is also important.

The apostles returned to Jesus from their ministry tour and told him all they had done and taught. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat. (Mark 6:30-31)

Discussion Questions

  2. Why do you think it’s important to work enthusiastically?
