CHAT-A-BOX Pt 5. Everyday Lifeنموونە
CONVERSATION STARTERS
Q1) What are some things you are motivated to do in your life?
Q2) Who are some people in your life that motivate you?
What does the Bible say about motivation?
- God is motivated by love, compassion and mercy.
God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die. (John 3:16 CEV)
Jesus travelled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:35-36)
- Christians are motivated by Jesus.
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honour beside God’s throne. (Hebrews 12:2)
- Christians are motivated by the promise of eternity with God.
“For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.” (John 6:40)
Discussion Questions
- What have you learnt about God by the things that motivate him?
- What are some other things that motivate God?
- Why do you think the promise of eternal life for those who trust Jesus is so motivating?
