Book of Isaiah

DAY 16 OF 22

LIVING IN HIS WAY

The Israelites were God's chosen people. God knew their perverse hearts. The Israelites called themselves God's chosen people, yet they were not sincere. They were a stubborn nation known as a rebel nation. But because of His name, He kept His covenant and did not obliterate Israel.

God was merciful to Israel, but He also disciplined them to educate them as His people. Therefore God used the Babylonians and allowed them be conquered. Yet when God saw that Babylon became haughty and put a heavy yoke on the elders of the people of Israel, God destroyed the glory of Babylon. It was not their magic and their incantations to Baal that made Babylon a queen of the kingdoms, but all happened with the permission of the LORD God of Israel.

In our Christian life, God wants the same. He does not want us to deviate from His commandments, for He wants us to remain in His love. God's commandments are not to make us unhappy. His commandments are given to keep us, His children, from harm. He wants us to live in His peace and be content in our lives.

Obedience will lead us to true and eternal contentment.
