Day 21 – Finding something lost
Reflect
How much money do you earn in a day? The coin the woman lost was worth a day’s wages, so in any time or place, this was a lot to lose. What’s more, some sources maintain that the coin was a part of her wedding dowry, a display of her worth and an emergency fund if needed. She lit a small oil lamp, held it in one hand and swept with the other listening for the sound of the tiny coin against the stone floor. She didn’t give up until she found it and when she did it was a time of great happiness and joy.
Respond
Lord, help me to not grow complacent about the “lost coins” all around me. Help me to shine your light in the darkness and to be someone who does not give up searching. Allow me to be one who rejoices along with the angels in heaven.
