Day 13 – We all need God's grace
Reflect
Up until this point, the believers in the early church were all Jews, termed "the circumcised believers". The news of the Gentiles receiving the word of God, as we will read later, was initially welcomed but then met with resistance by those who believed conversion meant first to become a Jew and all that was involved. It was offensive to them that Peter a) went into the home of a Gentile and b) ate with them! This reaction was a shadow over the church for a long time. Even Peter, who knew better, was later affected by it. (See Gal. 2:11-14)
Respond
Lord, let the practice of my faith in You be genuinely from my heart. May I be generous in my soul, not petty and focused on minor issues. Help me never to be caught up in narrow-minded religiosity of any sort, particularly that which would cause me to be judgemental or think less of any brother or sister in Christ
