At Midnight: Seeing Victory in Your Situationنموونە
WITH YOU
“So let all that I am
Be consumed with who You are
All the glory of Your presence
What more could I ask for?”
Our human nature is inclined to consume. We long for the latest tech, we binge food that we know doesn’t benefit our bodies, we buy things that aren’t financially sound – all in search of fleeting satisfaction.
This is what makes the idea of being consumed by God’s presence so interesting. It seems to be the reverse of our natural tendencies. Instead of striving for something we’re without, it’s a strengthening that takes place from within.
Nowhere in Scripture is there a more vivid picture of this than when God’s Spirit moves in Acts 2. As promised, the Holy Spirit comes upon the disciples like a rushing wind, filling the room, and introducing a power they had never known before.
In this story, the disciples’ posture is instrumental to their experience. They were willing, ready, and expectant for the Spirit to give them everything they would need to walk out the life that Jesus had called them to.
Willing — to say yes to God’s calling.
Ready — to receive the Holy Spirit’s power.
Expectant — for God to honor His promise.
Today, we are promised that this same power will strengthen us from within — but we too must be willing to assume the same posture. We too must be willing, ready, and expectant for God to move in our life.
