Signposts To Christ From Isaiahنموونە
The prophet Isaiah preached to a King and community that rejected his message. They had turned from trusting God and looked to the nations around them to solve their political problems. Yet, there was within his community a group of faithful followers of God. To them, Isaiah offered this hope of a coming ruler who would be righteous.
The New Testament writers identified this coming ruler with Jesus Christ. Jesus is God incarnate (John 1:14). The child born to Mary was the Son of God with a kingdom that would never end (Luke 1:32-33).
The attributes of this future leader in Isaiah 9 are fulfilled in Christ. Yet, as followers of Christ we are also called to model our Saviour. We may not be rulers or leaders, but we can foster peace. We can promote justice and seek God’s ways for our lives.
