Signposts To Christ From Isaiah

DAY 6 OF 14

Some of the most well-known passages in Isaiah are about an unnamed servant. This servant acts as an agent for God for the purposes of bringing justice to the Judean community while in exile in Babylon. The servant is the opposite to everything that Babylon stood for. Babylon was a centre of culture. It was proud and arrogant. The servant is humble and kind. Yet the servant is also focused and determined to do God’s will.

These same words were used in Matthew 12:18-21 to describe Jesus. Jesus was humble and kind; the opposite to the rulers of his day. Yet he was also focused on doing God’s will. This included teaching and healing during his ministry, that culminated at the cross. Jesus paid the ultimate price in sacrificing his life for ours.

Question: What people in your life do you identify as living sacrificial lives like this servant?
