Discovering The Names Of Godنموونە
God is rising up beside you…
David up against Goliath...certainly this is one of the best-known confrontations in the Bible! What fascinates me in this story is the contrast between the “huge” Goliath and the “little” David. (see the story in 1 Samuel 17).
Goliath seems to have everything to win the battle: size, power, strength, experience, and even weapons! David, the curly-headed teenager, the young shepherd, has...a sling and 5 stones. Humanly speaking, David’s fate is sealed. The outcome of the battle is decided in advance, and yet…
“So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.” (see the Bible, 1 Samuel 17:50, NKJV)
What is the secret to David’s victory? Unshakeable faith in YHWH Tzva’ot, the Lord of hosts. David knew God and had faith in Him. Here’s what David declares just before striking down Goliath: “‘You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.’” (1 Samuel 17:45)
Here are the small keys to this great victory: a sling, several stones, courage, unshakeable faith, and especially...the Lord of hosts on his side!
What is the battle you’re facing?
- Depression,
- Fear of losing your job,
- Failure,
- Illness,
- A fight with temptations,
- A complicated family situation?
Whatever your battle is called, it is not beyond the reach of the Lord of hosts. I invite you to trust in Him with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
Because God is on the battlefield with you, you are in a position to win the battle. See...God is rising up. God is advancing and fighting for you. The victory is here.
I invite you to pray with me…“God, You are the Lord of hosts! I worship and bless Your name. I thank You for being with me on the battlefield. Your presence in battle with me guarantees my victory. You are great, and You’re good. Thank You for being in my life. Teach me to honor You more and more every day. In Jesus’s name, amen!”
