Everyone. Everywhere. Part 1نموونە
Mary and Martha: Jesus was the greatest disciple-maker who has ever walked on this earth. We can learn so much from how he interacted with people during His ministry. We see how He corrected, guided, and taught people that were around Him. Through the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42, we learn about how Jesus provides correction and alignment toward what He views as important.
Jesus cares about our hearts. He sees past our actions and the parts of us that we put on display, straight to our motivations. In this story about Mary and Martha, Jesus did not care that, on the outside, it appeared that Mary was not doing any work and that Martha was the one doing all of the work. One interpretation is that Martha was too caught up trying to impress Jesus, while Mary just wanted to be near Him. This is an easy trap that everyone, including people we disciple, can fall into. Jesus is reminding us that His priority is the heart behind our actions, and that should be our priority too.
- Questions:
- When you are regularly meeting up with or discipling someone, do you focus more on their actions or their heart?
- Where is your heart at currently? Would you say you resonate more with Mary or Martha? Why?
