Everyone. Everywhere. Part 1

DAY 14 OF 20

Paul and Timothy: In the Bible, we see that Paul made it a priority to invest in younger Christian believers. He had a God-given gift to empower those around him to devote themselves to the teachings of Scripture and Jesus Christ. Among the followers of Jesus, Paul chose to train Timothy as a disciple-maker. Paul knew his purpose was to raise up the next generation in faith, and his desire was to make Christ known.

If we share this desire, we can follow in Paul’s footsteps by discipling people who want to find and follow Jesus. Paul loved Timothy as his own child, taught him the ways of the Lord, and eventually empowered Timothy to become the church leader in Ephesus. Even when he was facing death, Paul was filled with peace and confidence because he knew that the Gospel would be carried on through trustworthy and reliable people like Timothy.

  • Questions:
    • What do you notice about the way Paul speaks of Timothy?
    • What does this say about their relationship?
    • What are some practical lessons you can gain from the way Paul invests in others?
  • Application:
    • Who is your Timothy that you can invest in this summer?
