Eternity Is Our Homeنموونە
We Will One Day be Fully Home
By walking in the Spirit, we can access bits of our home here and now, but Christ has a plan for us to fully return home, not just get a glimpse of it.
Firstly, He has a plan for us in death. The terrible reality of sin causes all things to pass away from this earth, but a loving relationship with Christ is eternal. We can trust that He is stronger than death because He has already defeated it in His resurrection. Those who love Him, then, will also defeat death when God brings them into Heaven. Not even death can separate us from the love of Christ! (Rom. 8:38-39).
Secondly, God has a plan to restore all of creation to its original design. Christ did not end His mission at the resurrection. He has more in store for His creation, and one day, He will return to bring all of creation back home. His followers will no longer live as exiles. Instead, we will be citizens of Heaven, the dwelling place of God.
The verses today help us see the hope of home that we need. Christ’s return will cause all terrible things to end once and for all. All tears, pain, and mourning will go away forever, and we will live with God like Adam and Eve did at the beginning.
We can trust that He has the power to do this because He has already started! He has already given us glimpses of home, and one day we will see it fully! For now, we see all things dimly, but one day, He will make it all clear. As you go about living in the Spirit, realize that He has even more in store for you. The joy we experience through a life with Him is just the beginning, and when He returns, we will rejoice even more! All the bad things will fade away, and we will finally return home. Thank God for this incredible reality and use it to motivate you to keep living in the Spirit!
