Eternity Is Our Home

DAY 1 OF 5

We Were Created for Home

Have you ever felt out of place somewhere?

Maybe you’ve gone to a nice restaurant while underdressed or stepped into a meeting or classroom you weren’t supposed to be in. Maybe, in some ways, you feel this way everyday just by living your life.

God understands this feeling of being out of place, and His scriptures can help us make sense of it.

See, God created us to live with Him, to walk alongside Him, and to breathe the air he breathes. At the beginning of all creation, humanity experienced no pain, no death, and no struggle because they walked with God in this way.

But we all know that life isn’t like that anymore. Instead, something feels off, but why?

The truth is that we are all homesick people.

1 Peter compares Christians to exiles in a strange land. Our rightful, eternal home is with our creator, but we do not dwell with him today. We are misplaced, and that feeling of something being off is our longing for our eternal home.

But how do we get there?

That is exactly what this study will answer. We will dive into the Word of God to see how He has an eternal plan that leads His people back home. We will look at how He has established ways for us to live differently today in light of the eternal reality that He has for us, ways that we can get a sense of our eternal home while still in “exile.”

The verse today remind us two realities:

1.    That humanity’s original home is with God.

2.    That we currently live as exiles away from our eternal home.

While these two realities may feel like sad news, the rest of the study will show us how God leads us back to our original home. Take a second and thank God for making a way for us to return home.
