OVERFLOWING COMFORT

For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 2 Corinthians 1:5

When we experience times of trouble, to whom do we turn? Yes, to our God who comforts us through Christ Jesus. And when other people come to us for comfort, what do we do? Are we always too busy to listen to them, to comfort them? Are we too involved in our own sorrow to have compassion?

Second Corinthians 1:3-4 says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God ." When we enter in the presence of God in our times of trouble and sorrow, He will have compassion on us. He will comfort us. But He asks of us to go out into the world and be a channel of His compassion and comfort to others. We should tell them, "Don't worry. Jesus is in control. He will be your rock and your fortress."

There will be nothing more beautiful than to see all Christians do this for others. Will you do this today, and every day? 

Thank You, Lord Jesus, that I can always turn to You in times of trouble and sorrow. Empower me through Your Spirit so that I can let Your compassion and comfort overflow to others who are in need. Amen
