Strengthened In The Presence Of God نموونە
SEEK THE LORD
You will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:12-13
Some time ago my wife, Jill, and I were invited to spend some time at the Wild Coast with very dear friends, Bill and Gayle Brownlee. They have a beautiful fishing cottage nestled in the mountains overlooking the magnificent Indian Ocean. Bill and Gayle prepared a lovely evening meal for us. They said that they would be leaving the next day. Jill and I would be alone there for ten days. We were right in the wild. It was beautiful but, for me, it was a very severe test. For the first three days I would stand up, walk around the room, and sit down again. I wanted to do something – and there was nothing to do.
Matthew 14:23 says Jesus sent the crowds away, and then He went up the mountainside to pray. He was alone there, praying to His Father. The disciples often searched frantically for Him, but for Jesus it was a priority to spend time in the presence of His Father. He did nothing in the presence of God except pray.
We get so caught up in the rat race. We start believing that if we’re not doing something we’re not worth anything. What God taught me there in that cottage is that He desires an intimate relationship with us. He wants us to call upon Him and come and pray to Him. He will listen to us. When we seek Him with all our hearts, we will find Him.
Lord Jesus, I want to follow in Your footsteps and spend time in the Father’s Presence. I will seek You with all my heart. Please listen to me and answer me. Amen
