LEVITICUS 25:
Yesterday in Leviticus we heard about the seven important yearly celebrations of the Jewish religion. Then we heard about oil and bread for the tabernacle. Following that, we heard about the example of a law-breaker who was stoned to death for his crime of blasphemy.

PSALM 23:
Today we read the most famous psalm of all. My wife has often said: Psalm 23 is so often quoted at funerals, but this is a psalm about living, not dying!

LUKE 16:
Yesterday in Luke 15, we heard the three-part parable of the lost sheep, lost coin, and lost son. There is much treasure to dig for there! Consider taking some time to reflect on that wonderful chapter.

O Lord, our God, You have been so good to us. Thank you for King David recording in Psalm 22 what Jesus would have been thinking on the cross. And that’s why He said those words, “My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?” The last word of that psalm says, “The Lord saved his people.” Yes, Lord, You save your people. The people don’t save themselves. And you’ve said to us, your people, “The poor will eat as much as they want. Those who come to the Lord will praise Him. All nations will remember the Lord. From every part of the world they will turn to him. All races will worship Him.” Lord, words can’t express your generosity, and the way these words reflect your glory. Thank You for saving me, and my listener. And heavenly Father, we thank You for being like the father in the parable of the lost son. You wait and You watch, and You eagerly receive the one who repents. And everyone should rejoice at that. But You lost another son— the one who didn’t run away, but was nevertheless estranged from You. And You call that one back as well as the other. So today, Lord, we all come back. We are unworthy to be called your sons. Treat us as your servants.
