A Moment With Godنموونە
CAST YOUR BURDEN
Jesus was hundred percent human and hundred percent divine. He wanted His disciples to travel with Him through His difficult moments. He took his disciples with Him to Gethsemane. He was sorrowful and deeply distressed. He also told them that. He did not cover his emotions and pretend that everything was alright.
The disciples were weak and were not awake. Jesus asks them, Could you not watch with Me one hour?
A statement of disappointment, a statement of being let down when He needed them the most. Isn’t this our experience too?
The Lord calls us to trust Him and cast our burdens on Him. He knows what He went through. He does not want us to go through something similar and hence, the invitation to trust Him and cast our burden on Him.
It is important for us to know that our Lord has gone through this because when we go through our pain and struggle, He knows how we feel.
He knows our desperation to have someone with us when we go through it. He understands us and is not disconnected.
Hebrews 4: 15 - 16: For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
The Lord has been there before. The disciples could not give him that support in that moment of crisis. They slept when He really needed them. That is the world we live in. At a crucial time when we want people to stand with us, that is the time they let us down. We can't blame them because they have their own struggles. They are weak, tired and human. We cannot demand their support. We can only request them. Many times it is a lone battle.
Mary Magdalene at the empty tomb ran to call Peter as she heard that someone had taken the body of Jesus. Peter came, saw and returned, leaving Mary in her place of weeping, doubt and sorrow.
The ones who she expected to comfort left her in the place of doubt. Let us remember to turn to Jesus. He is willing to meet with us at the point of our need.
Psalm 42:5: Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.
Let us turn to Jesus and He is sure to listen. He has been there before.
When you are cast down, just cast your burden down onto Jesus.
