A Moment With Godنموونە
THE LORD, MY STRENGTH
I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
When an experience becomes part of our lives, we address it differently.
- Our joy
- Our happiness
- Our pain
- Our sorrow
David uses a term for the Lord. He calls Him MY STRENGTH.
My strength. He is not asking the Lord for a portion of His strength every time he faces difficult circumstances. He continues to say THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH.
This was a song sung on the day he was delivered from the hand of Saul. Saul was pursuing him to kill him. He was chased by the weapon of jealousy, hatred, bitterness and anger. David tried to handle it in his own strength, his strategy, his plan, his wisdom. But they were all failures. He pretended to be a madman. He became part of the enemies’ camp. He was running away from Saul, for his life. Nothing worked, till he turned it over to the Lord. We claim the Lord is our strength, but we do things on our own. No matter how experienced, strong or successful we are, or how many friends we have, we can still face defeat in the area of our expertise.
Peter fished all night and he caught nothing. Because without Jesus, we can do nothing. We need to trust Him with our problems. The Lord has a better way to deal with our problems than we do. Trust Him to do it. He might take time, but He will still do it.
Psalm 18: 31 - 34 - For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places. He teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
Let us trust the Lord. Whatever the challenges that we face, let us trust him with our lives. Our lives are precious to Him. It hurts the Lord to see us not trusting Him with our life. He is ready to act and defend us.
Two things are necessary when the Lord is our strength: Let us turn it over to Him and then trust Him.
Never take it from His hands. Let Him do what He wants to do because He makes something beautiful of our lives.
Challenges will confront you but they will never conquer you because the Lord is your STRENGTH.
