WAIT ON THE LORD
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord! Somehow we have not learnt the joy of waiting. We want things to happen now. Waiting can be discouraging, draining and irritable.
Waiting itself is not difficult. But the time taken makes it all the more difficult. It varies from person to person and from situation to situation.
What are we waiting for? Have you been waiting for a long time? An answer from the Lord? While waiting, we get anxious and murmur and complain. The Lord will not give anything just to pacify us; He will only give us to perfect us. In waiting, we tend to give in to people's advice, we get confused with many points of view, or we try to do things on our own.
Abraham became impatient in waiting and he had Ishmael. The Lord did not approve it. People of Israel became impatient; they began to complain and grumble.
Waiting can be a very discouraging thing. How can we be of good courage? Because our waiting can never be in vain as the Lord is dependable and faithful. His promises are true and His timing is right. He does not withhold that which is good.
The Lord can handle our situation better than we can. Let us trust Him. He is Lord. While answering, He takes into consideration our strengths and weaknesses, our talents and gifts, the situation that we will face. He puts all these things together and answers us.
When we act thinking that that is good, it may be wrong. The answer maybe just around the corner. He may take us on a different route to the same answer that He has planned for us. There’s nothing like waiting on the Lord. He knows us.
There are no stereotyped answers from our Lord. Every answer is new, exciting and great. It will fill our heart when His hand is in that answer.
- Let us wait believing that the Lord will give us the best.
- Let us wait believing that the Lord's timing is right.
- Let us wait with thanksgiving in our heart.
We are not waiting for the situation or the answer. We are waiting on the person, who is the Lord.
When we cannot wait on Him, we are telling Him that we don't trust Him, there is fear and anxiety and it hurts the very heart of God.
Why don't we give him a chance? Let us let go and wait for Him to do it. Those who waited on the Lord have never gone back disappointed or discouraged and they have always received the best.
Is there something that we are anxious about? Let us give it in His hands and see that He can make something beautiful out of it.
Waiting is not a path of discouragement but a path of fulfillment.
