Congratulations! You’re still single! Now, if that opening statement caused you any type of disappointment or made you question your life, this is the plan for you, so don’t try to stop reading it! You should not abhor being single to the extent that it makes you feel any of those feelings. Now, I also understand that society, your family, friends, and even your church at times don’t make being single any more of a joyful experience. If you’ve been single as an adult for an extended time, the most common questions may stem from your relationship status. Understandably, it gets annoying.

May I begin to encourage you that there isn’t anything wrong with being single and you should not feel bad about being single. While a healthy desire for relationships and marriage is biblical and honorable, please remember that marriage is not a requirement for the most important relationship we will ever have…a relationship with God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With that in mind, along with a couple of other biblical nuggets, such as 1 Corinthians 7, we can begin to have a deeper appreciation of the season we call singleness.

This Bible plan is not meant to discourage you from desiring to be married but rather to help you thrive while living single. Too often, the emotions experienced around singleness lead us down a path of bitterness and/or resentment toward God and/or disappointment in life. However, when we begin to transform our thinking toward this season and become content with God’s plan for our lives, we can enjoy this part of our journey all the more. Over the next few days, regardless of how you feel about your singleness journey, I pray that you begin to appreciate this season all the more.

Prayer: Lord, I open my heart to receive what you have for me in this season called singleness. Thank you for your plan for my life, which is better than what I have in mind. Thank you for helping me thrive in this season. In Jesus’ name, amen.
