Help for Whatever Battle You're Facing Today

Are you fighting a battle today? If so, that doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong—it means you are a warrior.

You’re not failing; you’re fighting. You’re not out of God’s will; you’re a believer in a fallen world. You’re not going to be defeated; you are more than a conqueror through the One who loves you.

Ephesians 6:10-17, the passage of Scripture about the armor of God, starts with this invitation, “Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power” (6:10 NLT, emphasis mine). You don’t have to rely on your own strength. You don’t have to overcome anything through your own power. God will fight for you.

What is your role in the battle? In the rest of the passage, the word “stand” is repeated four times. It’s interesting that this is not an aggressive word like “attack.” Instead it’s a word of trust and confidence, steadfastness and endurance, security and inner stillness even in the midst of war.

As you stand firm in your faith, God promises to fully equip you with armor. He won’t leave you defenseless. In the days ahead we’ll explore how he has provided protection for every part of you.

God is with you in your battle. He is fighting on your behalf. He has given you everything you need to prevail. With him you can’t lose, you won’t fail. Victory is already yours, today and forever.

God, thank you for the armor you have given me. Help me to put it on each day for whatever battle I may face. You are my strength. I trust in your mighty power. With you, I will be victorious. Amen.
