Pause: A Month of Prayer in Five Minutes a Day

DAY 18 OF 30

Proclaim

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Phil. 4:6)

Prompt

Sometimes, we need repetition. Yes, we rely on God to refresh and renew us, but we also can rely on God to be the same yesterday, today, and forever. Routines and repetitions can be lifesavers when used correctly.

I have found that highly successful people have discovered reproducible principles of life; even Jesus gave a tremendous example of consistency and routine: His life was marked by rising early to pray daily.

Educators will also tell you that repetition has great value. Songwriters know the value of repetition, and so do athletes.

Routine in life reveals what we value. If it’s true that we succeed in what we celebrate, then let’s get on board and celebrate routines that foster daily discipleship.

Prod

Are you avoiding or embracing repetition in your life? Why or why not? What aspects of repetition can be healthy and beneficial for your life right now?

Praise

Pray

Jesus, I know I say this a lot, but wow. You’re amazing. Let me never get tired of repeating that. Show up in my routine today and reveal yourself in a fresh and new way. Only you can enliven repetition—show me yourself! Amen.

About this Plan

Pause: A Month of Prayer in Five Minutes a Day

Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by pausing each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
