God's Redemption Story (Genesis)

DAY 9 OF 25

Once the water receded and God told Noah to leave the boat, Noah did something unexpected. He built an altar and burned an offering to God.

Noah just spent a year crammed into a boat with seven people and a bunch of stinky, hungry animals. They sloshed around in a storm for over a month and then floated on the high seas. And now they are who knows how many miles from home. Even if they could find where home used to be, would anything be left?

Noah could have easily complained, cursed, or turned his back on God. Instead, he stopped to thank God—for his safety, family, and for breath in his lungs.

When life gets rough, we are often tempted to blame God and stop talking to him. Maybe we should take Noah’s approach. The next time life turns into a hurricane, look around for something to be thankful for and talk to your loving Father about it.
