DAY 36
Autobiography
Jesus looks back on his life and is content. It is finished. What had to happen, happened and is over and done with. I would also one day like to say that about my life.
I also want to look back and know in my heart that the purpose of my life is fulfilled.
I wonder how it would be like to write my autobiography – a way of looking back on my life and reflecting on it. Perhaps I will see my life in detail. Or perhaps just the main headings – the headlines of my life story.
I want to grow in my ability to reflect this way – train myself to think about the moments in my life. I want to see God in my life. Not only see that He was there, but also how I experienced Him in those moments. My story is huge – I want to see it and tell it!
It is only the last chapter, or the last page, that I still cannot write. There are still choices I have to make; my life is not yet completed; it is not yet finished.
EXERCISE
• You are invited to look back on your life today.
• If you could divide your life into chapters, what would the headings of those chapters be?
• In which chapter are you now?
• What would you want the heading of the next chapter to be?
This exercise takes time and effort, but nobody who did it, ever felt that they have wasted their time. It reminds us that life is important and helps us connect with the greatness of our story. We also become aware of how we look at life – maybe there is another way of looking at it.
• Talk to God about the feelings that arise when you reflect on your life.

About this Plan
Lent is a time when we prepare ourselves for Easter. Lent Journey consists of 38 devotions to accompany us on this journey. We are invited to the undertake the journey with Jesus and thereby prepare ourselves for the two big events that are the pillars of our belief system - the crucifiction and the resurrection.
