Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 4 OF 366

Gain a Heart of Wisdom

This Psalm is the prayer of Moses. According to Mathew Henry’s Concise Commentary, it refers to the sentence passed on Israel in the wilderness (Numbers 14). The journey to the Promised Land, the land they were to get after 400 years of slavery, was only 11 days long. If only they had this in mind, then their grumbling would have been replaced by plans of what they would do after entering the Promised Land. The journey wasn’t an easy one, but it was to end soon, since there was an appointed time to enter into their glorious future. This should have given them new strength to endure hardships.

It’s a matter of our heart and focus! The ‘now’ troubles often shift our focus from the ‘latter glory’ we will experience. That is why we must gain a heart of wisdom! We have a glorious destiny to reach. As we travel through this temporary life, why focus on the hardships or even the pleasures here? We have a purpose for living. We have a treasure to collect...in Heaven!

Paul exhorts us, in Ephesians 5:15-21, to walk circumspectly, understand God’s will, be filled with the Holy Spirit, sing songs and hymns to one another, and make melody in our heart to Him, knowing that He holds our future.

If we gain wisdom, the years of our life will be many (Proverbs 4:10). That requires us to not lose our focus on eternity. Then, we will achieve much more meaningful years, even in a short span of life.

Declaration
Jesus has paved the path for me into eternity and this grace is enough for me to endure this journey. I choose to focus on the destination rather than focus on today’s problems.
