Living Changed: Mom to Mom

DAY 1 OF 7

Chosen

Have you ever prayed for something so hard and for so long that you weren’t sure it would ever happen? When it did happen, did you immediately feel under qualified and certain that you were going to mess it up? Welcome to motherhood! Or maybe just life.

I always dreamt about becoming a mom. It was something I began praying for at a very young age. Before it ever came to fruition, it was preceded by years of praying, unexpected obstacles, infertility, and even miscarriage.

More times than I would like to admit, I felt unworthy, incapable, and alone through those hard years. I felt like I must not be good enough and that God also knew it would be a mistake for me to have kids. I felt like a failure. This was one thing that only I could do for me and my husband, and it just wasn’t happening for us.

There are so many times in the journey to or through motherhood when we might feel alone, misunderstood, or abandoned. But the truth is, God has been in this moment before we were and he knows how to lead us on. We just have to lean on him for strength and comfort and listen for His guidance.

Any time I begin to feel those self doubts or insecurities creep in, I go back to God’s truth and remind myself that He doesn’t make mistakes. I am chosen. He picked me for this journey of motherhood, to be the mom to my babies, and to bear fruit that will last.

No matter how you became a mom—by giving birth, adopting, or marrying their dad—God chose you. You won’t always get it right, but perfection isn’t the goal. There’s only one perfect parent, our Heavenly Father. He has promised to stay with you and help you every step of the way. Lean in to listen for His voice, trust Him to guide you, and keep moving forward because you were made for this.
