Remember Toy Story 2? How is it possible for a kid's movie to have us feeling all the feels? Jessie's song, "When Somebody Loved Me," about being loved (and then forgotten) by a kid is a real tear-jerker. Maybe that's because we all have a favorite toy we've forgotten about, but maybe it's also because we've all felt a little unloved or forgotten before. And you're not the only one. There are people in your own neighborhood, community, school, or even family who may feel this way. Maybe they're people experiencing homelessness, people who are in need of food, clothing, companionship, or people who just need some support.
Of course, you have needs too. But the truth is, there are so many needs you also have the power to meet for others — whether you have a lot of resources or just a few. When we pause for a moment and consider those around us, it's easy to see we have the opportunity to help others in their time of need. When we honor and support those around us, whether it's through time, friendship, money, or care, we can reflect God's kindness to others — especially those who are in need.
What is one act of kindness you can extend to a neighbor experiencing a need?
Scripture
About this Plan
Friendship might feel easy when life is easy, but it gets more complicated when your friends are hurting or struggling. What should you do? What should you say? What should you not say? When our friends need help, there are no easy answers, but in this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll see what Scripture invites us to do when others are grieving, lonely, in need, or feeling hopeless.
