90 Days to Wholeness: A Porn Addiction Recovery Devotional for Womenনমুনা
Yesterday, you were asked to determine how to discern God’s voice (the Shepherd) from the voice of the enemy (the wolf). Today, I want to help you to discern the voices we are really listening to when we choose to stay silent about our struggles, whether in confession or in accountability.
Simply stated, God never contradicts His word. Any voice that contradicts the word of God is the wrong voice and should be rebuked immediately. I have said time and time again throughout this devotional that the main reasons we stay silent are fear and shame. Let’s check the scriptures for these words.
Fear:
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Shame:
“Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.” Psalm 34:5
Where do these feelings and fears come from? They come from listening to the wrong voice, and we can know that is true because the word of God tells us so.
As it relates to your addiction, can you see how you may have been listening to the wrong voice? Can you find examples from scripture that contradict the wrong voice? What can you do to help listen more closely to the voice of God?
