chapter three
1should not many of you (PL) be teachers, brothers my, knowing, that we will receive a severer judgment. 2because in a many things stumble we all. if someone stumbles not in any word, is he a perfect man, able to hold even the entire body in the bridle. 3and if we put into bits (for the bridle) in the mouths of the horses, so that them to make obedient to us, lead we also the entire body their. 4just also the ship, although they are so large and be driven of strong winds, (they) be yet steered by the very small rudder, where the steerman/pilot wants. 5exactly so is also the tongue a small member, and boast itself with great things. look, who for a great forest a small fire can set ablaze! 6also the tongue is a fire; as a world of unrighteousness stands it among our body parts, it defiles the entire body and kindles on the whole course of life and becomes (itself) kindled from the Gehenna. 7because every kind of beasts and birds, reptiles and creatures in sea, is the human kind of tamed and has tamed become; 8the tongue however can any man not subjugate; a restless evil, full filled with the poison of death. 9with it praise we the L-rd (G-d) and Father; and with it curse we the men, who are created become in Hashem's likeness. 10out of the same mouth comes out a blessing and a curse. brothers my, so must it not be. 11(question) springs up then the source of the same opening the sweet (water) and the bitter? 12(question) can then, brothers my, a fig tree bring olives, or a (grape) vine figs? also can a salty (source) not give any fresh water.
13who is a wise and a understanding among you (PL)? shall he show his deeds through his good conduct with meekness from wisdom. 14if however you (PL) have bitter envy and strife in your heart, shall you (PL) yourselves not boast, and be not false to the truth. 15the this wisdom comes not down from above, but is earthy, unspiritual, devilish. 16because where it is there envy and strife, there is turmoil and everything evil. 17the wisdom however, which is from above, is before all pure, then peaceable, gentle/modest, willing to yield, filled with mercy and good fruits, without partiality, not hypocritical. 18and the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace for the (ones), who make peace.
