chapter two
1brothers my, not with partiality shall you (PL) hold the faith of our L-rd Yehoshua the Moshiach, the L-rd of glory. 2because when there comes into in your synagogue a man with gold rings, fine clothing, and it comes also into an poor man in muddy clothing; 3and you (PL) look self over on the one, who wears the fine clothing, and say: sit you here down on the best place; and to the poor man say you (PL): you (SG) stand there, or sit you down below on my footstool; 4(question) makes you (PL) then not any difference among you (PL) yourselves, and be judges with evil thoughts? 5listen closely, beloved brothers my, (question) has then Hashem not chosen the poor people in the world, that they should be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised the (ones), who have him love! 6you (PL) however have put to shame the poor man. the rich people, do oppress they then you (PL) not under, and they themselves, do drag they you (PL) then not to the court? 7do blaspheme they then not themselves the good Name, which is called become over you (PL)? 8yet if you (PL) do fulfill the royal law according to the verse: you (SG) shall love have your neighbor as you yourself (Leviticus 19, 18), do you (PL) well; 9if however you (PL) are partiality to the face, do you (PL) a sin, and become condemned by the Torah, as transgressors. 10because who it will keep the whole Torah, will however stumble in one thing, has he himself done wrong in all. 11because the One, who has said: do not commit adultery (you shall not commit adultery) has also said: do not murder (you shall not murder); when however you (SG) adultery (do) not, commit however a murder, you are become a law breaker in the Torah. (Exodus 20, 13-14.) 12speak so, and act so, as (men, who) must judged be by the Torah of freedom. 13because the judgment is pitiless/ruthless on the one, who has not shown any mercy; mercifulness triumphs over the judgment.
14what is useful it, brothers my, when one says, he has faith, but any (faith based) deeds has he not? (question) can him then the (quote unquote) faith save? 15if a brother or a sister are naked, and it is lacking them the day daily food, 16and someone of you (PL) says to them: go you (PL) in peace, warm self on and satisfy self; you (PL) give them however not the necessary for the body, what is useful it? 17also so the faith, if it has not any deeds, is it dead for self alone. 18but someone will say: you (SG) have faith, and I have deeds? show me your faith without the deeds, and I will you (SG) to show my faith through the deeds. 19believe, that it is there one G-d? you (SG) do well! even the demons believe it and tremble. 20you (SG) want however know, o empty man, that faith without deeds is dead? 21(question) is then not Abraham our father justify become through deeds, offer making Isaac his son on the binding? 22you see, that the faith has work along with his deeds, and through the deeds is the faith become perfected; 23and it is fulfilled become the verse, which says: and Abraham did believe Hashem, and it is him counted become for righteousness (Genesis 15, 6); and he is called become a friend of G-d. (Yeshayah 41, 8.) 24you (PL) see, that a man is justified through deeds, and not through faith alone. 25and on an likewise way is then Rachab the prostitute not justify become through deeds, when she has welcomed the spies and them sent away on an other way? (Yehoshua 6, 25.) 26because exactly as a body without a soul is dead, also so is the faith without (faith based) deeds dead.
