chapter five
1the elders therefore among you (PL) am I exhort, who I am also a elder and a (eye) witness of the Moshiach's suffering, as also a sharer in the glory, which must revealed become: 2shepherd Hashem's flock, who are with you (PL), exercising oversight, not being compelled, but out of good will, according to (the will of) Hashem; and not for shameful gain, but with cheerfulness; 3and also not as you (PL) would dominate over the allotted, but be examples for the flock. 4and when the chief shepherd will appear, will you (PL) receive the crown of glory, which withered not. 5exactly so, you (PL) younger, submit yourselves to the elders, and all shall you (PL) yourselves clothe with humility one in relation to the other; because Hashem puts Himself against the proud, the humble however gives he grace. (Proverbs 3, 34.) 6humble yourselves therefore under Hashem's mighty hand, so that He shall you (PL) to raise up in the appropriate time! 7casting all your (PL) worries on him, because he is concerned for your sake. 8be sober, be vigilant; your enemy, the Satan, go around as a roaring lion, seeking whom to devour; 9stand yourselves him against, firm in the faith, and be know, that the same sufferings are being experienced in your (PL) brothers in the world. 10and the G-d of every grace, who has you (PL) called to His eternal glory in the Moshiach, after the when you (PL) have suffered a little, He Himself will you (PL) make perfect, strengthen, invigorate, establish firmly. 11to Him shall be the rule forever and ever. Amen.
12by Silvanus, the faithful brother, as consider I, have I you (PL) briefly written, you (PL) exhort to do and witness to say, that this is the authentic grace of Hashem, in which you (PL) stand. 13there gives you (PL) up peace the chosen with us kehile in Babylon and Mark the son mine. 14give up peace (greeting) one the other with a kiss of love. peace to you (PL) all, who are in the Moshiach.
