DAY TEN – “PURIFY ME”

Today’s Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 1:9-10

Holiness can be confusing – really, really confusing. Confusing because we can make some big mistakes with how we think about holiness. For some, holiness becomes a badge of prideful honor. Do you see the irony in that? Holiness becomes unholiness real fast when pride enters the picture. Another major problem arises when our attempts to become holy turn into legalism and self-effort. Again, holiness turns into unholiness.

So, how can we hope to obey the bible’s persistent and insistent call for holiness? It starts with the all-important understanding that holiness doesn’t come from us; it comes from God. Holiness is not what we do for God. Holiness is what God does for us. Holiness is God’s gift to His children. Knowing this keeps us humble. And humility keeps us holy.
