Aftermath: Coming Down The MountainSample

Aftermath: Coming Down The Mountain

DAY 2 OF 14

Intentional

My kids and I have this thing we do together each morning. Before we start our day, we put on the armor of God together. Every piece: helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, belt of truth, shoes of goodness, and the sword of the Spirit. Then, together, we say, “We are warriors and leaders for God”.

Might sound silly to you, but when my children and I walk out our front door, we are never sure what the day will hold. I don’t know what my children will face at school. I am not sure what I will encounter at work. I want to make sure that we all are intentional about our choices and decisions.

When we give our life to God, we have to view our choices differently. Every day you make choices. These choices either bring you closer to God or take you further away. Your daily choices matter. You have to be intentional in your choices. You have to think, “Is this a choice that honors God?” It is hard at first to change our mindset. We must go from making choices based solely on what we want, to making choices that are honoring God. When you are intentional in making choices that honor God, your friends will notice. Your family will notice. They will want to know what is different about you. Most importantly, God will notice and see that you are being intentional about your choices and that you are honoring Him with those choices.

Challenge:

  1. How are your choices reflecting your relationship with God?

  2. How do your choices shine the light of Jesus to your unsaved friends? Could they get to know Jesus through their interactions with you?

  3. PRAY: Start your day in prayer. Ask God, each morning, to remind you to be intentional with your choices.
